Top Caliber--World Champion, World Record!
Competing along with dozens of the top bulls in the bred, Top Caliber dominated the Longhorn World Championship show in Guthrie, Okla.during the second week of October. In a repeat performance of last year's triumph, Top Caliber again took 1st place in Tip-to-Tip measurement, setting the all-time World Record at 83-1/4".
Although the youngest bull in his class, Top Caliber recorded more than three inches wider horns than the second place finisher, WS Jamakizm and six inches ahead of the third place bull, JP Rio Grande.
Of the other two categories, Top Caliber took 1st place in the Composite measurement (TTT + Total Horn + Circumference). His half brother, Trail Dust 40 by Hunts Command Respect finished first in Total Horn with 103" with Top Caliber in second at 98.9".
While progeny of Hunts Command Respect (Top Caliber's sire) made a strong showing across numerous classes, possibly the most impressive was a Top Caliber son, RHF Sharp Shooter, owned by Jim and Barbara Atwell of North Carolina. At 30 months of age his Tip-to-Tip measurement is 70-7/8". The Longhorn World Championship is hosted by the Texas Longhorn Marketing Alliance, headquartered in Lampasas, TX.
